The best known wine grapes in the world come from France:
Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot. Chardonnay. Sauvignon Blanc. Syrah. Pinot Noir.
Due to the large Bordeaux wine region, Merlot is the most planted grape in France.
Grenache and Syrah are the most popular grapes in Languedoc-Roussillon and in the Rhône Valley.
Chardonnay is the most plantet grape in in Burgundy and in Champagne.
Ugni Blanc is very popular for the distillation in Cognac and Armagnac.

Glera (the main grape in Prosecco) is the most planted white grape.
