It mainly grows in the Abruzzo, Marche, and Molise regions of Italy.
Black Berries and Sour Cherries are typical Montepulciano flavors.
With Peppery Spices and Herbal notes of Oregano and Tomato.

Abruzzo has a mediterranean climate, with hot summers and cold winters, which makes it ideal for growing wine grapes.
The soil varies from clayey and calcareous in the coastal areas to rocky and sandy in the mountains.
