Condrieu is a French AOC from the Northern Rhône Valley.
This appellation produces only white wines made of Viognier grapes.
Viognier has a lovely combination of spicy notes of apricot, peach and honeysuckle combined with perfumed, floral aromas, and a rounded, smooth finish.

The Chardonnay Glass was designed for enjoying full-bodied white wines. They have a wider bowl and a tapered top to enhance the buttery and oaky notes found in aged wines. The wide bowl steers the wine to the sensitive parts of the tongue, ensuring that the acidity creates a harmonious balance with the sweet aromas of the wine. The wide bowl allows the full bouquet of aromas to develop. It also reduces the risk for over-concentrated aromas. |
These creamy, rich cheeses complement the full, round mouthfeel of a full-bodied Condrieu. The buttery flavors in both the wine and the cheese enhance each other beautifully.
The nutty, slightly sweet flavors of these cheeses pair well with the complex fruit and oak characteristics of a full-bodied white wine. The firm cheese texture adds a pleasant contrast to the richness of the wine.
A rich and pungent washed-rind cheese provides a bold contrast to the refinement of a full-bodied Condrieu.
The creamy and mild flavor of Havarti pairs well with the rich and buttery texture of a full-bodied Condrieu, making for a delightful and balanced pairing.
The crystalline texture and savory, nutty flavor of aged chesses will complement the undertones of a full-bodied Condrieu.
The craddle of Viognier grapes is the village of Condrieu.
The steep slopes and terraces of Condrieu AOC are located on the right bank of the Rhône river.
The AOC in northern Côtes-du-Rhône has a cool climate with cold, wet winters and hot summers.
The vinyards are planted facing south. The orientation and the rocky soils help to store heat.
Viognier grape variety loves gneiss terroirs and the steep granitic slopes contained by terraces and walls.
Condrieu is characterized by perfume, body and silky mouth feel.
The appellation is small, only 200 ha of vineyards and includes 7 communes in the Rhône, Loire and Ardèche départements.
They are Condrieu, St Michel sur Rhône, Vérin, Chavanay, Saint Pierre de Boeuf, Malleval and Limony.
In the Côtes du Rhône North, the main grape is Syrah.
The grapes grow on very steep slopes, and are manually picked in hillside trolleys, wich adds to the price.
