Uva Rara is a red wine grape from northern Italy.
It grows primarily in Piemonte and Lombardia.
Colline Novaresi DOC is one of the few regions producing single-varietal Uva Rara wines. These wines are light-bodied, fruit-forward, and floral with refreshing acidity.
In the Nebbiolo based Ghemme DOCG, up to 15% Uva Rara is blended in, providing roundness and aromas.
In the Nebbiolo based Gattinara DOCG, up to 10% Uva Rara is adding softness and fruit to the wines.
In the Croatina based Oltrepò Pavese DOC 15% Uva Rara is blended in, adding softness and perfume.
