Grapes

Altesse (aka Roussette) produces the finest white wines in Savoie, while Jacquère is the most planted grape.

White Grapes

Savoie is primarily known for its white wines, and the region cultivates several indigenous grape varieties. Jacquère is the most widely planted white grape, known for producing crisp, light, and refreshing wines.

Other white varieties include Altesse (also known as Roussette) and Roussanne, which can produce more complex and aromatic wines.

Red Grapes

Less common, but red wines are also produced in Savoie. The main red grape variety is Gamay, which yields light and fruity red wines. Additionally, Mondeuse is a local red grape known for producing more structured and peppery wines.
