Francacorta is known for its high-quality sparkling wines Franciacorta DOCG, produced using the traditional method (metodo classico).
At the Alpine foothills, Valtellina is known for its elegant and structured red wines made from the Nebbiolo grape.
Just 50 miles south of Milan, this area is known for a variety of sparkling and still wines.
Pinot Noir is the prominent grape. Other common grapes are Barbera, Riesling, Pinot Bianco, and Pinot Grigio.
Located near Lake Garda, Lugana is known for its white wines made from the Turbiana grape (Verdicchio).
