It is one of Spain's best-value wine regions. You can often find wines of a quality comparable to those from more famous regions at substantially lower prices.

Extremadura is located in western Spain. It covers the provinces of Cáceres and Badajoz.
Hot, dry continental climate with very warm summers.
The vineyards are planted on plains and gentle hills rather than mountain slopes.
Extremadura sits directly next to Portugal's Alentejo, one of Portugal's most successful wine regions.
The landscapes, climate, and agricultural traditions are remarkably similar. Many wine lovers who enjoy Alentejo wines would probably enjoy the wines of Ribera del Guadiana as well.
