The Ideal Glass for Petite Sirah

The Bordeaux Glass was designed for enjoying fuller-bodied, tannic red wines. They are taller than other red wine glasses, and has a slimmer bowl.

The tall size allows the bouquet of the wine to develop, smooth out rough edges, play down tannins, and allow the wine to achieve balance.

The slimmer bowl directs the wine to the back of your mouth for a maximum taste.

About Petite Sirah

Petite Sirah is a grape originally called Durif, after a French botanist (Francois Durif), who created it in the 1860s.

Syrah and Peloursin grapes were crossed during pollination in Durif's greenhouse, resulting in a small, intensely colored grape with high tannins, high fruit, and high acidity.

Petite (means small in French), but Sirah is NOT a baby Syrah (Shiraz).

Petite is related to the fact that the berries are smaller than Syrah. The smaller the berries, the higher the concentration of color and tannins.

Petite Sirah wines are big and bold (like dark ink) with tons of dark fruit flavors, and tannins.
