Blatina is a premium, indigenous red wine grape primarily grown in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The grape has functional female flowers, meaning it requires interplanting with nearby pollinator vines (like Trnjak or Merlot) to bear fruit.
Blatina produces dark ruby, full-bodied wines with notes of dark berries, spice, and chocolate.
Because Blatina's delicate flowers are easily damaged by rain during the pollinating season, the vine sometimes fails to produce fruit, giving it the praznobačva (empty barrel). However, in good years, it yields structured, age-worthy wines that pairs well with red meats, pasta, and aged cheeses.
Alcohol can be addictive. Always drink in moderation.
